Man City, Arsenal and Tottenham among teams in 6-club chase for Championship star

Norwich City star James Maddison is at the centre of a major transfer tussle this summer, according to a report by The Sun.

Maddison is wanted by six Premier League clubs ahead of the re-opening of the transfer window.

The exciting young attacking midfielder suffered ligament damage in the final game of the season, prompting initial fears that he could be ruled out for six months and miss out on his expected summer move.

But it turns out that Maddison does not need surgery and he will be available for a switch in the summer transfer window, which has sent a host of Premier League clubs into a frenzy.

Premier League winners Manchester City are among the clubs interested in the former Coventry City academy star, while fellow Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen.

They are joined by Everton, Southampton and Brighton in the race to land the 21-year-old.

With 15 goals and eight assists this term from midfield, the England under-21 international has earned plenty of admirers in his breakthrough season at Carrow Road.

The Canaries face a big battle to keep him at the club this summer with a £25m move looking likely.

The Verdict

Maddison is such a talented player who has so much flair, composure and technical ability on the ball.

Able to play as a central attacking midfielder or deeper in a central midfield role, the 21-year-old is surely a future England international in the making.

But his next career move is vital and perhaps it is still a bit premature for him to be looking at a switch to Man City.

Spurs and Arsenal are likely to give him opportunities so this could be a decent career move, while he would probably be a key man at Everton, Southampton or Brighton.
