Leeds United have enjoyed a great start to the Sky Bet Championship season and sit in fifth spot.

Manager Thomas Christiansen brought in an array of new signings in the summer, with most of them being unknown quantities from across Europe.

However, one player signed was a more familiar face, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

Brought in on loan from Manchester United, this looked to be the perfect platform for the 20-year-old defender to develop and mature as a footballer.

It's not quite gone to plan though, and Borthwick-Jackson has struggled for first-team opportunities.

The writers here at Football League World have issued their verdicts on the young defender....

George Dagless

Man Utd fans must be worried.

Borthwick-Jackson looked like one of the better young players to be coming through and this move was surely his last big test before staying with them.

Indeed, if he'd cut it at Leeds and impressed he'd surely be a strong United asset over the coming years but, at the moment, that is looking in jeopardy.

Alfie Burns

Borthwick-Jackson is once again making a mess of a golden opportunity to prove himself to his parent-club, Manchester United.

The young left-back failed to impress at Wolves last season, and once again finds himself down the pecking order at Leeds United this year.

Gaetano Berardi and Vurnon Anita, who are not recognised left-backs, have been preferred to Borthwick-Jackson so far this season, with the defender’s last appearance coming in the Carabao Cup against Burnley.

Leeds will certainly be regretting their decision to bring Borthwick-Jackson to Elland Road at this current time.

Chris Gallagher

What a career decline!

This guy played for Manchester United in the Champions League under Louis van Gaal, now he can't get into the matchday squad at his second Championship club.

Clearly, there is an attitude problem as Wolves and now Leeds are not happy with how he is performing. It would suit all involved if the Yorkshire club could cancel the deal in January, then the left-back will have to seriously look at where he goes from here.

Adam Simeoni

Very unlucky.

The player has undeniable talent and potential, but appears to have lost his way a little after bursting onto the scene at Old Trafford. I think he just needs a stroke of luck.

One injury will give him a first team run, and I feel like he will take the opportunity that comes his way.
