Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is plotting a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Kamil Miazek, with the SPFL side hoping to complete the deal before Friday's transfer deadline, according to a report by Football Insider.

Miazek, 23, is being lined up by Gerrard as the Gers aim to find a new back-up to No 1 Allan McGregor, after Miazek has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road over the past 12 months.

So is it time for Leeds to offload Miazek amid this Rangers interest?

We discuss..........

Ned Holmes

"Yes, cashing in on the goalkeeper this month makes a lot of sense for me.

"With 18-year-old Elia Caprile arriving this month and Leeds having an option-to-buy Illan Meslier, who has impressed when given the chance so far, Kamil Miazek has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road.

"Even in the potential absence of Casilla, who may be facing an FA ban, Miazek would be fourth choice.

"With Caprile and Meslier both very young, it's hard to see a future at the club for the Polish goalkeeper.

"The 23-year-old's contract is set to expire in the summer, though Leeds have a one-year extension, so it makes sense for them to look to try and get some money for him now."

“Kamil Miazek is a name that Leeds fans will know, but have never seen play. He’s been on the bench a good few times this season but has never challenged Kiko Casilla for his starting spot. So maybe it’s time that Leeds allowed Miazek to move on, and he try and kick-start his career.

“Rangers would be a fantastic move for the Pole. The Ibrox club will eventually have to say goodbye to their veteran stopper Allan McGregor, and when they do they’ll need a young replacement to step in, and Miazek could be the ideal one.

“The 23-year-old has clearly got something about him, else why would Marcelo Bielsa have him as his fall-back if Casilla became injured? Having played so little football though it's inevitably a risk for Rangers, so maybe a loan-deal initially could work out better.

“Leeds won’t be left short-handed if Miazek leaves, so I think they should really let the player decide. Rangers would be a fantastic opportunity if it came along, and he’d be in-line to take McGregor starting spot when he eventually retires. Miazek would have to fight for it though, and proves his worth to Gerrard.”

Chris Thorpe

"This is a move that wouldn't be a surprise to anyone as the goalkeeper is firmly behind Kiko Casilla in the pecking order at Elland Road.

"Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is well known for putting his faith in young talents and it seems that he views Miazek as a player he can develop for the future.

"Leeds would not be left short in the goalkeeping position if they were to cash in as they have Messrs Casilla and Illan Meslier to call upon if needed.

"The Championship promotion chasers would certainly be open to selling the youngster and as a result the ball is now in the court of Rangers with regards to making a move for the player."
