Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia has spent the start of 2017 representing his national side Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations.

But after their exit due to a defeat against Morocco, Kodjia will now return to Villa Park and focus on his club duties.

The club have struggled for options up front in his absence especially with the ongoing saga relating to Ross McCormack and his broken gate.

Kodjia took to Twitter to share his disappointment with his country's loss but also his excitement on returning to England, where he will meet his new teammates including Henri Lansbury.

While some fans sympathised with the striker for their defeat, most fans couldn't help but express their excitement to have the former Bristol City man back.
