After a nerve-shredding 2018/19 campaign, Reading fans will be hoping for a slightly more positive campaign this time around.

Under Paul Clement the Royals slipped rapidly down to the foot of the table but, thanks to the arrival of the Portuguese, they quickly started to pick up some crucial wins, eventually finishing comfortably clear of danger.

But Gomes is clearly keen not to rest on his laurels this summer and has set about strengthening his side ahead of the new season.

Two new arrivals have come through the door at the Madejski, in the form of goalkeeper Joao Virginia and centre-back Michael Morrison.

And a familiar face was reported as a new target on Monday when Courtney Friday of the Reading Chronicle revealed that the club were looking to re-sign Chelsea centre-back Matt Miazga.

The second-hald of last season saw the 24-year-old make 18 appearances, becoming a favourite of the fans in the process.

So it is no surprise that they are so excited by this update...
