West Brom have recently been linked with a move for Rangers defender James Tavernier as Darren Moore looks to bolster his defensive options as they target an immediate return to the Premier League.

The Baggies are currently sat 5th in the Championship table and are well in the hunt for a return to the top-flight.

The Championship side failed with two bids in August for the right-back but haven’t gone away.

Tavernier is contracted to the Scottish giants until 2022, and West Brom would have to pay a hefty fee if they are to secure the right-back's signature.

The 26-year-old already has experience in playing in the Championship, as he played regularly for Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan earlier on in his career, before making the move to Rangers in 2015.

Tavernier has been ever-present in Steven Gerrard's squad this season and has already made 20 appearances for the Scottish side.

Rangers have struggled in recent weeks and are currently sat 4th in the Scottish Premiership, and they are already six points adrift of Hearts, so Tavernier could be tempted to link up with Darren Moore's side in January.

We put the question to West Brom fans on Twitter: You have been linked with a move for Rangers defender James Tavernier, would you be happy if you signed him?

The Verdict:

I certainly think that the Rangers right-back would be a good addition to Darren Moore's side this season. It doesn't come as a surprise that 67% of fans think he would be a good signing for the club.

West Brom have struggled for depth in defensive areas at times this season and the Baggies boss will definitely be looking to strengthen in that area as soon as the transfer window opens in January.

Tavernier is considered one of Rangers' best players so it will be a hefty fee that will have to be paid out to secure his services, but if they want him, they will have to pay the fee that Gerrard's side demand.
