It's fair to say this season has been well and truly dreadful for Sunderland.

Relegated from the Premier League last season after years of flirting with the dreaded drop zone, the Mackems were expected to compete in the top half of the table at least.

However, it has been a car crash of a season and the Black Cats face the very real prospect of dropping into the third tier of English football.

Chris Coleman's Sunderland side currently sit rock bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table, having amassed a mere 28 points from 36 league games so far this season.

It will take a heroic effort from everyone at the club to get themselves out of the mire and off the bottom of the table, and some fans will have undoubtedly started thinking about life in League One.

If the worst did happen and you found yourselves in the third tier next season, do you think Sunderland have the credentials to win the League One title?

Or have they got no hope?

We asked the Sunderland faithful on Twitter and it's fair to say that most fans were in agreement about this debate....

A sizeable 83% of Sunderland fans who voted felt that the club have no hope of winning the League One title, whilst a small 17% of supporters felt that the Black Cats can storm to the title in League One.

Sunderland fans.... What do you think if the worst happens? Let us know below!
