Unable to strike an agreement with Ryan Nyambe, the full-back is set to depart Blackburn Rovers when his contract expires next week, as per a report from the Lancashire Telegraph.

Rovers had tabled an offer for the 24-year-old to consider in the early stages of this summer, however, the Championship outfit have failed to agree fresh terms with Nyambe.

Talks had been going on for a while, with Nymabe's representatives returning to the negotiations table back in April, however, it is reportedly set that his future lies away from Ewood Park.

Adding an extra 30 Championship appearances to his total for the Lancashire club, Nyambe has featured 199 times in a Rovers shirt since his 2015 debut.

Now 24 years of age, Blackburn will not receive any form of compensation for the defender who progressed through the academy ranks at Ewood Park.

The verdict

First and foremost, it is a shame that Blackburn have not been able to agree fresh terms with an academy graduate like Nyambe, who has proven to be one of the best wing-backs in the division at times.

Rovers are entering a new era under the stewardship of Jon Dahl Tomasson, and whilst Nyambe would have been a boost in regards to the options he would have available, it presents an opportunity for the exciting manager to dip into the market.

The young defender would be an excellent pick-up at Championship level and it will be no surprise to see some of the Championship's top teams with an interest.

The 24-year-old will be hoping for a destination where regular football can be achieved next season, making it interesting to see where the next destination is.
