Leeds United are not expected to submit a late bid in an attempt to sign Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell according to Football Insider.

The Whites had previously submitted an offer in the region of £15million for the 22-year-old, whose future with the Canaries remains 'up in the air' on Deadline Day.

Cantwell caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for Daniel Farke's side last term, although his efforts weren't quite enough as they were relegated back into the Championship.

But the midfielder has been left out of Norwich's last two matchday squads, which hinted that his future could lie elsewhere before the summer transfer window reached a conclusion.

It is also claimed by Football Insider that Norwich are confident that they can keep Cantwell at the club on Deadline Day, which will be pleasing to hear for the club's supporters.

The Canaries are currently sat 17th in the Championship table, and will be hoping they can put together a positive run of results at the earliest of opportunities, as they look to win promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Norwich are set to return to action this weekend against struggling Rotherham United, in a match they'll be expected to pick up three points from.

The Verdict:

I'm slightly surprised by this.

I thought Cantwell would have been the ideal player to fill the void left by Pablo Hernandez in the future, with the Spaniard struggling with injury problems.

But Leeds are seemingly content with their options for now, and you have to trust the club's judgement with this one, as they've not made too many mistakes in recent years in terms of incomings.

It would really surprise me if Norwich were able to keep hold of Cantwell though, as he's a player that has already shown he can perform to a high standard in the Premier League.
