Aston Villa's new owners are insisting that Jack Grealish and James Chester are not going to leave the club this summer amid growing interest in the pair, according to The Mirror.

After being hit with a serious financial crisis earlier this summer, Aston Villa were swiftly taken over by billionaires Nassef Sawaris and Wes Edens, which has eased their woes.

And the takeover looks to have ended Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of capturing Grealish in a cut-price deal.

Spurs chief Daniel Levy was hoping that Aston Villa's financial problems would force them into selling the 22-year-old later in the window for a bargain price, but he appears to have missed out now.

Chester, who plays at centre-back, was also strongly linked with an exit with Stoke City the main pursuers.

But Aston Villa want to keep this star duo to ensure they have the best chance of promotion.

The Verdict

All the doom and gloom from earlier this summer will surely now disappear and be replaced with optimism.

If Aston Villa keep Grealish and Chester, then they have a solid core of their squad that can compete for promotion once more.

Add two or three quality signings to the mix and they have a superb chance of promotion.
