Many Leeds United supporters have been in agreement that the club might need to do something to solve the mental issues facing the players, following the latest comments from sports psychologist Gary Bloom.

The Whites are currently enduring their worst run of the season, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side having managed to win just two of their last nine Championship matches, which has seen the likes of Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest all gain ground on them in the race for automatic promotion.

Leeds’ defeat at home to Wigan Athletic last weekend was symptomatic of their performances over the last few months, with Bielsa’s side continuing to be as dominant as ever in possession and creating numerous chances, but they are far too often failing to take those opportunities and then being hit on the break.

Bielsa’s side have gone off the boil somewhat since they threw away a three-goal lead late on in a 3-3 draw at home to Cardiff City a few months ago, and that game was something of a flashback to the second half of last season’s play-off semi-final defeat against Derby County.

QUIZ: How much do you know about Leeds United’s January signings?

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bloom, who is currently part of Oxford United’s staff as a sports psychologist, has suggested that the Whites need to address the issues affecting their players mentally, saying: "We’ve had 18 games now where the same pattern of football arises. If you’re playing 18 games of football and the same thing happens, you have 30-plus chances per game and you are only getting a strike percentage of five per cent, something significant has gone wrong.

"I would say there’s a collective disbelief inside the team that this is going to be fixed. We’re doing the same thing over and over again. Something has to change. As human beings, if the same thing happens over and over again, we somehow have an innate belief it’s going to happen again."

Many Leeds fans seem to be in agreement with what Bloom has been suggesting, and whether or not they are able to sort out that issue could well determine whether they are able to go on and earn promotion this season.

Here then, we take a look at what Leeds supporters have been saying about Bloom’s comments on social media…
