Nottingham Forest are gearing themselves up for a huge summer transfer window, with Aitor Karanka still having plenty of work to do at the City Ground.

Karanka has only been in-charge at the City Ground a short time, but has already set about improving the playing squad that he inherited.

The work the Spaniard did over the January window was impressive, and with the summer approaching, Forest’s supporters are expecting their manager to be active once again.

Additions will be made at the City Ground to get Forest challenging higher, but there are members of Karanka’s squad that need to be moved on ahead of next season.

Some are in desperate need of a loan move away from the City Ground to aid their development, with not enough chances coming under Karanka.

With that in mind, we take a look at THREE that Forest should look to send out on-loan when the summer transfer window comes around…

The goalkeeper has had plenty of opportunities in goal, but he isn’t ready for Championship football yet.

The best thing Forest could do is send the youngster out on-loan next season and allow him to find his feet at a lower level.

Then the 23-year-old might return to the City Ground prepared for a first-team challenge.

Brereton is young and a great prospect, however, the striker’s goalscoring form hasn’t been inspiring.

This season, the 19-year-old has just six goals to his name and would certainly benefit from a loan move to League One.

Of course, allowing Brereton to leave would depend on who Forest could sign to replace him,  but for his long-term development, a spell away from the City Ground could work wonders.

Grant has spent a lot of his career out on-loan, but next season Forest need to see what he can do in either League One or the Championship.

They know that Grant can cut it in League Two, but they need to find out if he is able to take the step up the footballing ladder.

Next year could be biggest season of the 23-year-old’s short career so far.
