According to a report in The Mirror, Greek business tycoon Evangelos Marinakis is closing in on completing a takeover at Nottingham Forest.

This report suggests that Evangelos Marinakis is hoping to complete a full takeover within the next two weeks.

Recent reports had suggested that the Greek businessman was set to purchase a 50 per cent stake in the club but the Mirror are claiming that he has now agreed terms with Fawaz Al Hasawi to buy a 100 per cent stake instead.

Fawaz Al Hasawi’s tenure as Nottingham Forest owner has been marred with controversy.

Nottingham Forest fans have regularly voiced their concerns and dissatisfaction at the Kuwaiti’s leadership and methods.

In January, he pulled the plug on a potential takeover of a consortium led by American business tycoon John Jay Moores.

Marinakis previously tried to buy Forest last summer but was halted as he faced criminal charges in Greece.

However, he has been cleared of these charges and is now free to complete a takeover.

Nottingham Forest fans – is this good news? Will Marinakis be better than Al Hasawi? Let us know below…
