‘Madness’ – Plenty of Watford fans react as frontrunner emerges in race to appoint Ivic’s successor

A number of Watford fans have been reacting to reports that the Hornets have held talks with Xisco over the potential for him to take over from Vladimir Ivić at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets made the decision to sack Ivic following their 2-0 defeat at Huddersfield Town on Saturday, with the club’s hierarchy thought to have been unconvinced by the style of play under the former Maccabi Tel Aviv boss. That comes after Watford had already been through three managers last season on their way to relegation from the Premier League.
Watford will be needing to make a fairly swift appointment to help them get their promotion bid back on track over the festive period. It has been reported by the Daily Mail that the club have already held talks with Xisco over the potential for him to make the move to the Hornets from his current club Dinamo Tbilisi.
Do you love Watford? Here’s 19 basic questions about the Hornets that almost every fan of the club should be getting right.
The Spaniard, who enjoyed a successful playing career in La Liga picking up the title and UEFA Cup during his time playing for Valencia, is a very inexperienced manager having only taken charge of a handful of matches for Dinamo Tbilisi since becoming their head coach. That means appointing him would be a potential gamble for the Hornets especially after Ivic did not work out.
Many Watford fans were quick to suggest that they feel it would be too big of a gamble to give the Spaniard the job.
With some supporters expressing their frustrations over the club looking to another manager who has no Championship experience after getting rid of Ivic for struggling to adapt to the English second tier.
Here then, we take a look at some of the best reactions on social media…
Not that I have a problem with appointing unknown managers as it normally means nothing, but you’d think this guy would need time to get his philosophy across…you know, something we’ve sacked Ivić for because we can’t afford to give time
Seriously, make it make sense https://t.co/dKPATrttMK

I see Xisco Munoz is favourite for being the next manager of Watford.
Ticks the boxes…
✅ Never heard of him
✅ No EFL experience
✅ Not British#watfordfc— Chris (@bratt_co) December 20, 2020
Yeah I agree. It’s becoming a lottery and hoping that we strike gold. My heart sank with this unknown. The model seems to be give someone a platform to make a name for themselves and roll the dice. It’s not been very successful for many who have applied thus far.

Ultimately, if Xisco Munoz comes in as the new head coach, I fear we might see a similar situation to what we’ve seen with Vlad. At this stage of the season it would be a rational move to appoint someone who knows the league and has overseen championship success. #Watfordfc
