Oxford United yesterday confirmed the signing of West Ham United winger Nathan Holland on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old is now embarking on his second loan spell with The U's after spending the 2019/20 campaign at the Kassam Stadium - until the pandemic halted the second half of that season.

Last season, Holland made a mere seven appearances for West Ham U23s and added just a single further appearance which came in the EFL Trophy.

However, he enjoyed an excellent season before that, scoring 12 and assisting six in 13 Premier League 2 appearances, before an impressive spell with Karl Robinson's side, where he scored twice in 10 appearances.

Born on the outskirts of Manchester, Holland rose through the ranks at Everton, spending nine years with the Merseyside club's academy and first-team set up.

The young winger then joined The Hammers in January 2017, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Holland has two West Ham first-team appearances to his name and has featured for England at youth level 26 times.

The U's kick off their 2021/22 campaign with a trip to League 1 newcomers Cambridge United in just over a week - a fixture that Holland will be striving to be ready for.
