Lynden Gooch reveals what he ‘can’t wait’ for as Sunderland break continues

Sunderland will be hoping that they can finish this year’s campaign strongly under the guidance of Phil Parkinson, as they target promotion back into the Championship.

The Black Cats are currently sat seventh in the third tier standings, but are just three points adrift of the automatic promotion places heading towards the conclusion of this year’s campaign.

However, that push for promotion from League One has been put on hold for the time being due to recent off-the-field events, with no scheduled return date being put in place as of yet.

One player that has been key to Sunderland’s impressive showings this season is Lynden Gooch, who has made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats.

The winger has chipped in with ten goals and two assists as well, and will be keen to pick up where he left off when the season gets back underway.

Gooch took to Instagram to express his eagerness to get back training with his Sunderland team-mates in the near future.

Gooch’s strong performances seemingly haven’t gone unnoticed, with TEAMtalk previously reporting that the American was attracting interest from Championship side Middlesbrough.

Who signed Antonio Semenyo?

The Verdict:

He’ll be a key player for the Black Cats ahead of the promotion run-in.

Gooch has been brilliant for Phil Parkinson’s side this season, and his statistics prove that. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was interest in his services in the summer if Sunderland don’t win promotion this term.

Sunderland are well in contention to mount a challenge for a spot in the automatic promotion places, and they’ll be hoping that they’ll be given the chance to complete their fixtures this season.

If they can put together a positive run of results, then they’ll have every chance of making a timely return to the Championship.
