Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor has shared an update on Instagram as he continues his recovery from a knee injury he suffered back in September.

Taylor scored five goals in Charlton's first six matches of the Championship season, but he has not featured for Lee Bowyer's side since late August after picking up an injury while on international duty with Montserrat.

The Addicks have managed in their talisman's absence with his fellow striker Macauley Bonne having scored five goals in nine appearances this term, but the South London side will still be eager to see Taylor back in action as soon as possible.

Lee Bowyer confirmed earlier this week that Taylor would not feature during Charlton's clash with Millwall on Saturday afternoon, but the striker has now taken to Instagram to share an interesting update regarding his recovery.

Taylor has scored 30 goals in his 51 appearances for Charlton since joining the club from AFC Wimbledon in the summer of 2018, while Championship rivals Brentford showed an interest in the striker over the summer.

The Verdict

Taylor's eventual return from injury will give Charlton an enormous boost given his early-season form, but it is important the Addicks do not rush him back to match action following a lengthy lay-off.

It seems like the best strategy would be for Taylor to return to the Charlton first-team fold after the upcoming international break, and the forward should not be risked during the Millwall match, even though he will be itching to play.

Charlton will be better off if they oversee his recovery over the two-week break, and he could then be ready to contribute during the Addicks' clash with Cardiff later in November.
