Lyle Taylor says he is "honoured" to play for Nottingham Forest, after a fine start to life at the City Ground for the 30-year-old.

It was a hectic summer for Taylor, who attracted interest from a host of high-profile clubs following his decision to leave Charlton Athletic at the expiration of his contract.

The likes of Celtic, Galatasaray and Rangers were linked with the striker, but it was Nottingham Forest who won the race for his signature, with Taylor moving to the East Midlands.

After waiting patiently to get into the team ahead of Lewis Grabban, Taylor has scored four goals thus far this season, including three goals in his last two games.

A brace in a 2-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend saw the Reds record back-to-back wins for the first time this season, signing off before the international break on a positive note.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live about his time at Forest so far, Taylor insists he is "honoured" to be playing for the club after working hard to get to where he currently is in his career.

He said: "I always believed that if given the chance I could prove myself able. Did I think I'd be playing for Nottingham Forest at the age of 30? No, not really.

"Did I dream of playing for a specific club? No. I wanted to play as high up the ladder as I could, whether that's in the Championship at the top or the bottom.

"I've always wanted to get to the highest level possible. I'm glad I'm here.

"I'm honoured to play for this club. I wanted to be given this chance but I think there's more. Why can't we?"

The Verdict

I think many people had their doubts over whether Taylor could make the step-up to the Championship with Charlton last season, but he silenced them doubters straight away.

He is proving to be one of the most dangerous strikers in the division, and now he's off the mark for the Reds, you would back him to score more goals.

He's been a shrewd signing on a free transfer.
