Charlton striker Lyle Taylor has offered his stance on the referee's decision to disallow his goal during the Addicks' 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield on Tuesday evening.

Lee Bowyer's side entered the match in desperate need of three points after going eight games without a win, but Taylor saw his second-half header disallowed for offside before Matthew Daly scored an injury-time winner for the visitors.

Taylor was making his second substitute appearance since his injury return - with the 29-year-old having recently missed over three months with a knee injury - and it was only the linesman's flag that got in the way of him scoring the first goal since his comeback.

The result means Charlton are sitting 17th in the Championship table ahead of their trip to Hull on Friday night, and Taylor left his Twitter followers in no doubt over his stance on the referee's decision to to rule out his header.

The striker shared this message via his Twitter account:

Taylor has proved to be a revelation since his move to The Valley in 2018 - with the former AFC Wimbledon man netting 30 goals in his 53 appearances for the club - and he will have been frustrated to not add to this tally on Tuesday night.

The Verdict

Charlton would have been desperate to seal a much-needed victory over Huddersfield on Tuesday, especially given their current injury crisis, and they will feel deeply frustrated to have conceded so late in the game against the Terriers.

Furthermore, the images show that Charlton every reason to feel hard done by following Taylor's disallowed effort, and the Addicks will now feel desperately unlucky given referee decisions and injuries have not gone their way of late.

However, Bowyer must now demand a response from his side when they face Hull on Friday night, as their winless run has surely got to come to and end sometime soon.
