Charlton striker Lyle Taylor has issued a cryptic response to the news that East Street Investments have agreed a deal to purchase the club from the hands of Roland Duchatelet.

The Addicks released a significant statement on Friday morning which confirmed that the investment group had agreed a deal to take over the club, with this marking the end of Belgian businessman Duchatelet's five-year reign at The Valley.

The takeover deal is still subject to EFL approval, but details have already emerged regarding East Street Investments' key priorities at the club, which include offering new contracts to manager Lee Bowyer and talisman Lyle Taylor.

Bowyer has worked wonders since taking over at The Valley in 2018 as he guided the club to promotion from League One, while Taylor proved to be a lethal presence in front of goal during his side's promotion push last term, but the duo are set to see their current contracts expire in the summer.

Taylor has now taken to Twitter to share his response to the takeover announcement:

Taylor has proved to be a revelation since joining Charlton from AFC Wimbledon during the summer of 2018, with the 29-year-old having netted 30 goals in his 51 appearances for Bowyer's side.

The Verdict

The takeover news is a fantastic development for Charlton as new ownership has been long overdue at The Valley, and the club will now be hoping they can enter a new era with Bowyer at the managerial helm.

However, it could be argued that Taylor has been just as important to Charlton's fortunes over the last two seasons given his goalscoring record, so the fact he looks set to be offered a new deal will be warmly received by the fanbase.

Taylor's Twitter messages suggests he is delighted with this key development in the club's ownership situation, and this will only help the club to retain his services for the foreseeable future.
