Luton Town striker Craig Mackail-Smith thinks that it is only a matter of time before the Hatters begin to show League Two their scoring prowess.

The ex-Peterborough United striker thinks that the team are beginning to build an understanding of each other and he is certain that a bucket load of goals is just around the corner.

Mackail-Smith was on target in Saturday's 1-0 win over Mansfield Town at Kenilworth Road, in a game which saw the Hatters record their first home win of the season.

Luton were tipped by many to storm League Two this season with bookmakers making them favourites for promotion along with Portsmouth.

It hasn't quite worked out that way yet however and the Hatters went through the whole of August without a victory.

Mackail-Smith told Luton on Sunday: "The first five games were difficult for me because I was finding my feet and my fitness and the lads were working out how I play.

"Since Cambridge I feel like I am getting almost where I want to be fitness-wise and strength-wise. The boys understand now how I play and where the ball needs to go.

"It's coming slowly but we have an understanding now and hopefully in the coming months I can score a lot more goals."

The London club currently sit in lowly 19th place in Sky Bet League Two, after a poor start to the season which has seen the club win two, draw two and lose four.
