Luton Town are still recovering from their failure to walk out at Wembley as the Hatters lost to Blackpool in an entertaining Play-Off semi-final second leg, but manager Nathan Jones will aim to put that right second time round.
The Hatters could suffer a horrid summer transfer window, however, as they could lose a number of their key men including midfielder Pelly Ruddock, whom has been strongly linked with a switch to the Championship.
In my opinion, the 23-year-old will be irreplaceable but that doesn’t mean the club shouldn’t attempt to try and conjure up a similar player, which is why I think Jones could do with signing up Sunderland midfielder George Honeyman on a loan deal.
The likeliness of Luton being able to snap his services up on a permanent basis is very low as the 22-year-old recently penned a new two-year deal at the Stadium of Light, but that does not in any way signal that the Black Cats would be reluctant to allow him more match time.
In what was a dismal campaign at the Stadium of Light, Honeyman made five Premier League appearances for the club and that would add some pivotal experience to that punctured Luton Town squad.
Mainly utilised in the top-flight’s reserve division, the attacking midfielder featured in fifteen outings; providing six goals and one assist – so it is obviously clear that George Honeyman knows what he is doing, which would benefit Nathan Jones hugely in League Two next campaign.
Luton Town supporters – would a move by Nathan Jones for Honeyman be a positive decision? Can he replace Pelly Ruddock, if the player was to leave? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below!
