Luton Town are set to submit another offer for Colchester United defender Kane Vincent-Young before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports’ live transfer blog (07/08, 22:22).
The Hatters are seemingly keen to add another full-back to the squad following the departures of Jack Stacey and James Justin to AFC Bournemouth and Leicester City respectively this summer.
Martin Cranie filled in at right-back in their opening day draw with Middlesbrough, but Graeme Jones will look to add fresher, younger competition to the Hatters squad before Thursday afternoon’s deadline.
The attacking full-back was arguably Colchester’s most exciting player last season, scoring three goals and making 44 appearances for John McGreal’s side who missed out on a League Two play-off spot.
With only one year left on his deal at the Essex club, a move away could well be likely. Charlton Athletic are also believed to be keen on signing the wing-back, but Luton look to be keen on doing a deal before the deadline at 5pm.
It looks like Graeme Jones and Luton Town are really impressed by Vincent-Young, and it’s no wonder why.
I watched him on plenty of occasions last season – defensively he is very able indeed, but going forward, he is a real nuisance with his electrifying pace and darting runs.
He can create chances for his teammates, and he would flourish in the Hatters’ style of play. He would be a very good signing for Luton.
