Luton Town star-man Danny Hylton has recently spoken out after the departure of manager Nathan Jones to Stoke City.

The 45-year-old's departure from Kenilworth Road came as a huge shock to many and is undeniably a massive blow for the Hatters' promotion bid from Sky Bet League One.

The Welshman took the Hatters to the play-offs in his first season in charge of the club, led them to promotion from League Two last season, and has guided the club up to 2nd in the table, eight points clear of Peterborough United in 7th place.

Hylton was the first of the Luton players to express their disappointment at Jones' departure for the Potters, stating that the manager will "undoubtedly go all the way to the top".

Hylton has been an integral player for the Hatters during Jones' time with the club - the 29-year old has scored 55 goals in 108 games for the club, including 5 goals in 18 appearances this season for the side that has scored more goals than any other in League One.

There is no time for Luton to focus too much on Jones' departure, with the biggest game of their season so far fast approaching - the Hatters travel to Sunderland on Saturday afternoon, who currently sit one place below Luton with a game in hand.

The Verdict

Jones' departure is a huge blow for Luton.

He was an overwhelming success at Kenilworth Road, and whoever replaces the Welshman will have huge shoes to fill.

They cannot afford to let his departure distract them from this weekend's huge clash at the Stadium of Light.
