Newly promoted Luton Town could be set to make a move to sign Birmingham City striker Isaac Vassell, according to a report from respected journalist Alan Nixon.

The 25-year-old striker has struggled for goals for the Blues and failed to hit the back of the net last season under Garry Monk, putting more question marks over his future with the club.

And now, with the Hatters winning promotion back into the Championship, they are looking to make their move on Vassell as they seek to strengthen in attacking areas ahead of what could be a difficult campaign for the club.

Indeed, Vassell is well known at Kenilworth Road following his spell with the club previously, where he made his name for himself before signing for Birmingham in a cut-price deal.

However, his time with the Blues has been plagued by injury and poor form when given the chance, and a move back to a club he knows well might well appeal to the 25-year-old as he looks to build his career back.

Luton are looking to make a big impact back in the second tier after romping to success in League One, but will know that experienced signings with Championship experience like Vassell might well be key to them having success at this level.

The Verdict

I think this is a smart move by Luton to be honest if they can pull it off.

Vassell hasn't had the best time of things at St Andrews but he is still a top talent and someone who will improve the Hatters' squad.

If he can get among the goals early, then Luton might have just pulled off a bargain buy if they can seal his signature.
