Bury boss Ryan Lowe is a serious contender for the vacant Luton Town managerial job as they seek a successor to Nathan Jones.

The Hatters, who are flying-high in League One, are on the lookout for a new manager after Jones decided to leave for Stoke City last week.

Club favourite Mick Harford has been appointed as caretaker and took charge as the side gained a very good point against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday that ensured they remain in second place.

However, journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that whilst the club are in no rush to make an appointment, Lowe is in the frame for the job after the fine work he has done with the League Two side.

Bury are currently second in the fourth-tier after a remarkable comeback win against promotion rivals MK Dons on Saturday.

As well as that, they have impressed with the attacking style of play they adopt, with Lowe's men the top scorers in the league and known for their free-flowing football.

The Verdict

This would be a move that makes sense although Bury will be desperate to keep hold of their talented young boss.

Luton have developed an identity and way of playing over the years and it's about finding someone to carry on the fine work Jones did as opposed to ripping things up and starting again.

Therefore, Lowe fits the bill and the chance to manage a club that could be in the Championship next season must surely appeal.
