Luton Town are considering a swift move for Stoke City goalkeeper Frank Fielding, with the Hatters looking into the possibility of an emergency loan deal, as per a report from Football Insider.

The Hatters, who have already had to dip into the emergency loan market six weeks ago, appear to be in a similar situation once again, following an injury to James Shea at Cardiff City on Monday.

Jed Steer is also currently out for the Hatters, after suffering an injury against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

25-year-old Harry Isted came on for Steer during that clash against Chelsea, whilst he also replaced Shea against Cardiff on Monday.

Nathan Jones told Luton Today in preparation for his side's clash against Blackpool tomorrow that he would be comfortable with playing Isted, with it remaining to be seen how this situation plays out.

The verdict

If Luton's season had fizzled out into mid-table mediocrity, then it would have been nearly certain that Isted would have been trusted in-between the sticks.

The Hatters' interest in Fielding does not appear to be because of Isted not being ready, instead, it is seemingly to do with the fact that a youthful option is Jameson Horlick is likely to take a place on the bench as a result.

Nathan Jones' side have been rather unfortunate in the goalkeeping department this season, but Fielding does represent a good option for the Hatters to consider.

The 34-year-old has over 170 appearances at Championship level to his name, providing an experience and composed option for Jones to ponder over.
