Luton Town look set to complete the loan signing of Birmingham City forward Isaac Vassell, according to reports from reputable journalist Alan Nixon.

The report claims that Birmingham, who lost star striker Che Adams to Premier League side Southampton earlier this summer, are trying to work on a deal to bring  a new forward to St. Andrew's.

Once that deal is complete, it is claimed that Blues will then allow Isaac Vassell to depart on loan, with Luton believed to be right at the front of the queue.

The 25-year-old is no stranger to the Kenilworth Road - he made 55 appearances for the Hatters after signing from Truro City in 2016, scoring 16 goals for the Bedfordshire club.

He netted 14 times in all competitions in the 2016/17 campaign before making the move to Birmingham in 2017, but his time at St. Andrew's hasn't gone as well as expected due to injuries.

He has made just five league starts for Blues, scoring just one goal in a total of 24 appearances for the West Midlands side.

The Verdict

I think that it would be a fantastic signing for Luton if they managed to bring Vassell back to the club this summer.

His time at Birmingham hasn't gone as well as expected, but if they can keep him free from injuries and other issues, then I do believe that he can score goals in the Championship.

He is quick, strong and powerful, and Luton fans will know just how good of a player he is on his day.

Luton are recruiting really well this summer, and I can definitely see them avoiding the drop next season.
