Luton Town are closing in on the signing of former Reading defender Gabriel Osho, according to Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (15/10, 08:13).

Osho is currently a free-agent and is on the lookout for a new club, and is now set to clinch a move to the Championship ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

The 22-year-old spent a brief spell on loan at National League side Yeovil Town last season, making six appearances for the Glovers before returning to Reading.

The defender then became a key player for the Royals following the season's resumption, making five appearances in the Championship and impressing under Mark Bowen.

Osho, though, rejected a new deal to stay at the Madejski Stadium, and left Reading at the end of last season.

According to Sky Sports, the defender, who can operate as a centre-half or as a full-back, is now set to put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Kenilworth Road having agreed to join Luton.

Luton have made four new signings this summer, with Tom Lockyer and James Bree arriving to bolster their defensive ranks.

The Verdict

This looks to be a really positive signing for Luton.

Osho is a huge talent with a lot of potential, and I was surprised to see him reject a new deal to stay at Reading as they are a club with a fantastic youth setup.

He is likely to get plenty of game time at Luton, though, and I think he’ll thrive under a manager like Nathan Jones.
