Luton Town have confirmed the signing of winger, Callum McManaman.

The 28-year-old was recently released by Wigan Athletic, and the Hatters have wasted no time in snapping him up ahead of next year's campaign.

McManaman arrives with a considerable amount of experience of playing in the Championship, having played with Wigan and Sunderland in the past.

But he struggled for regular game time with the Latics last season, having made just one league start as Wigan retained their status as a Championship club for another season.

In fact, the winger hasn't consistently featured at his last few clubs, but has played for both Wigan and West Brom in the Premier League earlier on his career.

He's a player that can be unplayable on his day, and if he can show that consistency, then Luton will have an excellent signing on their hands.

It is the first signing that Luton have made in the Graeme Jones era, and it will see McManaman link up with his former coach, which he was evidently pleased to do after speaking to Luton's official website.

"I am made up. I am looking forward to pre-season and I can’t wait now, to get back playing and enjoying myself. I am looking forward to meeting all the lads and getting started.

"I worked with Graeme Jones for a few years at Wigan. I really enjoyed working with him and he got the best out of me, so hopefully he can do that again."

Luton will be hoping that McManaman can settle into the squad swiftly and play his part in their league campaign back in the Championship next season.

The Verdict:

This is a fantastic signing.

McManaman hasn't been the player he once was, but I firmly believe that he could thrive in this Luton team next season.

He's an unpredictable player, but is a game-changer, and that is exactly what Luton need if they are to challenge teams in the Championship.
