Luton Town have emerged as one of the bookmakers' favourites to challenge for promotion next season.

However, if they are to fulfil these expectations and maintain their push up through the divisions, they will need reinforcements up front. For these purposes, they should pinch Accrington Stanley winger Jordan Clark.

The 24-year-old had a thoroughly productive season. Having never been regarded as particularly productive in front of goal, Clark scored eight times and produced seven assists as Stanley romped to the League One title. Such a season was overdue. Clark has long been known for his pace and blistering acceleration. Now, with the addition of a goal scoring instinct, he emerges as a thoroughly promising player who could perform at a higher level.

Clark would fit well in Nathan Jones’ side. Jones has been keen on utilising width, often employing a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation that looks to attack full-backs. Clark’s pace and inclination to cut inside would fit perfectly in both.

As well as Accrington performed last season, there is little expectation that the side will be looking to push on much further. There will be a focus on establishing the club at League One level.

This is not the case at Luton. Players have already made noises about challenging for promotion. Such ambition will create an exciting atmosphere at the club and make Luton a thoroughly attractive destination for potential signings. Luton can offer Clark ambition and he can offer talent. Such a match would be ideal for both parties.
