Luton Town have sealed the signature of midfielder Eunan O'Kane on an 18-month deal from Leeds United in the Hatters' third addition of the transfer window so far.

The club confirmed on Thursday afternoon that they have reached an agreement with Leeds to sign O'Kane on the 18-month contract, with the midfielder returning to Kenilworth Road after first joining the club on loan back in August 2018.

O'Kane saw this first loan spell cut short when he suffered a broken leg during just his fourth appearance in all competitions for the Hatters, but he has now returned to the club for a second stint as he aims to help boost Luton's survival efforts.

Graeme Jones' side are currently sitting bottom of the Championship table following a difficult campaign to date, but they did give their survival hopes an enormous boost when they sealed a 3-2 victory over Derby County on Tuesday evening.

O'Kane now becomes Luton's third signing of the window following the arrivals of Peter Kioso and Cameron Carter-Vickers, and the 29-year-old could be involved when the Hatters make the trip to face West Brom this coming weekend.

The Verdict

It would have been extremely disappointing for all parties when O'Kane suffered a serious injury so early into his first stint at the club, and he will surely now relish the opportunity to make amends during the second half of the season.

The fact O'Kane will be playing for the Hatters for the next 18 months means he should be able to find some consistency in his game, with the midfielder having experienced a difficult few years due to his injury troubles.

His arrival will also give Luton a much-needed boost ahead of their survival bid this term, with O'Kane now representing the club's second signing of the day following confirmation of Carter-Vickers' move.

Jones will need as many extra bodies as he can get during the closing stages of the January window, and O'Kane will add an additional midfield option who has the potential to deliver some strong performances during the remainder of the campaign.
