Luton Town's Izzy Brown has said he's 'loving' his time at the club, and that he's not thinking about his future with parent-club Chelsea just yet.

Brown, 22, joined Luton on a season-long loan from Chelsea in the summer and has made 14 appearances so far in the Championship this season.

Luton is his sixth loan club in the last five years having had spells with Vitesse, Rotherham, Huddersfield, Brighton and now Luton.

Speaking to Luton Today about his parent club Chelsea and how under their new manager Frank Lampard, they've focused heavily on promoting younger players like Brown, he said:

“Tammy (Abraham), (Fikayo) Tomari, Mason (Mount), they’re all doing amazingly well and it finally shows that you can trust the young players to go and produce what they’re doing.

"But I’m not really focused on the future too much, I’m just enjoying playing football week in week out.

"I love playing here, I love playing under this manager. He gives me so much confidence and I really feel like on the pitch I can go and show everyone what I can do."

Brown got his first goal for the Hatters when they beat Charlton Athletic 2-1 at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night. It ended a run of five straight losses for Graeme Jones' side and is Brown's first goal in first-team football since the 2016/17 season.

“I think tonight (Tuesday) just proves how far I’ve come and how far the team has come from the start of the season, so I’m proud of all the boys," explained Brown, whose winning goal came just after the restart.

“This season it was just about playing games, getting minutes under my belt and now that I’m doing that.

“I don’t really want to think about the future, I just want to focus on what’s going on at the moment. I'm not really too worried about the Premier League or anything like that, as I’m just focused on Luton."

Luton have looked more and more destined for the drop in recent weeks but the win over Charlton will have given the players and manager a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the run-in to the New Year.

The verdict

Brown has been hailed as one of Chelsea's brightest youngsters for some years now, having burst onto the scene when he was just 15.

Now aged 22, though, Brown is at the stage of his career where he needs to start producing the good on a regular basis. Having now scored his first goal for the club he should have the confidence to go on and score some more, and help steer Luton away from the drop zone.
