Outgoing Ipswich Town captain Luke Chambers has sent a heartfelt message to everyone connected with the club on Instagram after it was announced recently that he would be leaving after nine seasons withe the East Anglian outfit.
Now aged 35, Chambers departs Portman Road under a cloud of disappointment, with the Tractor Boys having once again missed out on a play-off place in Sky Bet League One as they desperately attempt to get back to the Championship.
The veteran defender joins Cole Skuse in departing the club this summer, with many more expected as manager Paul Cook oversees a mass overhaul of personnel in a bid to turn the side’s fortunes around after some dire displays in the league this term.
Moving on some of the older members of the current squad seems to be the main focus for Town and as a result, their skipper is one of the names on the released list who will be departing.
Today, Chambers took to his Instagram to post the following message as he left Portman Road for the last time:

The defender was largely deployed at right back this season in order to compensate for the various injuries that Ipswich had in that area of the field and racked up an impressive 39 starts in the league.

He leaves Ipswich after making over 390 appearances for the club and will now be looking for what is likely to be his last club as a professional as he continues to wing down what has been an incredible career at Football League level which has seen him take in other spells with the likes of Nottingham Forest and Northampton Town.
Wherever Chambers ends up this summer, he will always be held in the highest regard by the Portman Road faithful.
