Ipswich Town are set for an interesting summer transfer window ahead, as Paul Cook looks to add to his squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Tractor Boys finished ninth in the League One table, and will be looking to win promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking in the new league campaign, which is set to get under way in August.

Paul Cook has wasted no time in adding to his team, with both Lee Evans and Wes Burns arriving at Portman Road.

Evans arrives from Wigan Athletic, whilst Burns had previously been on the books with League One rivals Fleetwood Town in the 2020/21 season.

Ipswich have also revealed that a number of players will depart the club on free transfers, as Cook looks to plan ahead for a promotion push this summer.

One of those to depart was Luke Chambers, with the defender spending nine years at Portman Road, with plenty of ups and downs in his time with the Tractor Boys.

Chambers recently took to Instagram to issue his thoughts on both Evans and Burns' arrival at his former side this summer, and labelled them as 'great signings'.

This will be Ipswich's third season in the third tier of English football, and the club's supporters will be eager to see their side return to the Championship under Cook's management this term.

The Verdict:

It's great to see him keeping tabs on his former club this summer.

I wasn't surprised to see Chambers being one of those to depart at the end of the 2020/21 season, as it was probably the right time to move him on, as they look to plan ahead for a promotion push in League One.

It'll be interesting to see whether Burns and Evans are thrown straight into Paul Cook's starting XI for the new league campaign, as their experience at this level could come in useful for the Tractor Boys.

I have to agree with Chambers in saying that they're both great signings on paper, and the club's supporters will be hoping they can adjust to their new surroundings relatively quickly.
