Ipswich Town made it two wins from two games in the EFL Trophy last night, with Paul Lambert's side beating Gillingham by four goals to nil at Portman Road.

The Tractor Boys picked up yet another win in League One at the weekend to cement their place at the top of the league standings - defeating Fleetwood Town 1-0 away from home.

Tuesday night, however, gave Lambert the chance to rotate his squad and give fringe players a chance to impress, with one eye bound to be on this weekend's clash with Accrington Stanley.

An own-goal from Mikael Mandron and two goals from Jordan Roberts and Will Keane secured a big 4-0 win for Ipswich on Tuesday night, but it was Emyr Huws who opened the scoring with a fantastic strike after eight minutes.

The 25-year-old has made six appearances in League One for the Tractor Boys this season, but only one of them has been a starting appearance thus far.

After his impressive goal and performance against the Gills, though, the midfielder will have given Lambert a selection headache ahead of their trip to Accrington this weekend.

The Verdict

Huws has been unlucky not to start more regularly this season.

The midfielder has been impressive for Town in recent years, but it has been so hard to drop Cole Skuse, Jon Nolan and Flynn Downes this season.

If he keeps plugging away and working hard, though, then he could find himself back in the team soon, as there are still a lot of games left to play.
