Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips have reacted to the news that Pablo Hernandez has committed his future to Leeds United.

Leeds announced on Tuesday evening that Hernandez had agreed terms on a new two-year deal at Elland Road, which ties the Spaniard down to the Whites until the summer of 2022.

That could take Hernandez into a sixth season in West Yorkshire, with the 34-year-old already on 132 appearances for the Whites.

In that time, he’s scored 29 goals, including 12 last year under the management of Marcelo Bielsa.

With his influence showing no signs of slowing up, fans are delighted, and so are his teammates, with Ayling and Phillips reacting to Hernandez’s message on his personal Instagram account.

Both Ayling and Phillips have joined Hernandez in committing their future to Leeds at the early part of this season, with the pair both first-team regulars alongside the Spaniard.

Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas, Mateusz Klich and Leif Davis make up the seven players to sign new deals with Leeds since the close of the summer transfer window.

The Verdict

Hernandez is such a vital player for Leeds, he’s shown that since walking through the door in 2016 and has been a joy to watch at Elland Road.

The fans love him, as do the playing squad, which is clear with how Ayling and Phillips have responded here.

Despite his age, this deal is fully deserved and is a reward for Hernandez’s outstanding contribution in a white shirt.
