The emergence of young midfielder Sean Clare has been one of the few positive elements of Sheffield Wednesday’s season so far.
The injury crisis that has hamstrung Jos Luhukay’s attempts to engineer an improved second half of the season has allowed Clare his chance to shine and he has taken it with both hands, scoring against promotion-chasing Derby County and Aston Villa.
However, his contract runs out at the end of the season and that is a cause for concern for some Owls fans.
His early performances have attracted interest from Premier League sides Everton and Tottenham, as well as other teams in the top two tiers, who are all eyeing a cut-price deal as the end of his contract draws nearer.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s match against Ipswich, Luhukay gave Wednesday fans an update on the future of the midfielder, as his contract talks remain ongoing.
Contract talks remain ongoing with Sean Clare, says JL. Hopes the situation gets resolved sooner rather than later. #SWFC

Keeping Clare would be a huge sign of ambition from Wednesday and would give their fans reassurance that they are looking to build for next season.
At the moment, snapping him up looks like a no-brainer for any top side and Wednesday have to do all they can to tie him down and change that.
Letting him go for nothing would be a real slap in the face.
