With safety assured Jos Luhukay can try out different personnel and tactical tweaks in preparation for next season.

The 1-0 win over Hull City caused Wednesday to go ten points above Bolton Wanderers and Birmingham City, thereby confirming another season in the Championship.

With the three games remaining, Luhukay can either use them to build consistency or try out different ideas. The significant injury list means that he won't be able to try out his desired starting XI until pre-season at the very earliest. Therefore, he should give chances to players on the fringe of the squad who need to prove themselves in order to keep a place for next season.

Jordan Rhodes is a good example of this because he scored the winner in the last game after struggling for the majority of the season which had seen him lose his starting position. One slight tweak that Luhukay could make is switching to a 3-4-3 with Adam Reach moving to left wing-back and George Boyd moving to the bench

Here are two players who should be given a chance as the two wingers in this formation alongside Rhodes...

Stobbs has been given a few opportunities by Luhukay after being recalled from a loan spell with Port Vale. However, the need for results has seen him limited to three games with two starts.

This would be the perfect opportunity to prove himself because Reading will look to sit deep and absorb pressure, so he will mainly have to focus on his attacking responsibilities. A good run at the end of this season could see him being used as one of the main wingers next season, which is important because he will lower the average age and add a pacy option to a relatively slow side.

Matias should be given a starting role on the other wing in order to see whether he can bring anything to the team.

He has disappointed in recent seasons with his disciplinary record being poor and he needs to show his worth or else he will be sold because he only has a year left on his contract, so this is the best opportunity for Wednesday to cash in on him.

This is the best position for him, and he needs to utilise that because there is little currently to stop Luhukay from letting him go in the summer.
