Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay has no shortage of injury problems to deal with as he prepares his side for a trip to Oakwell to face a managerless Barnsley side in a Yorkshire derby on Saturday afternoon.

However, one long-term absentee has been Fernando Forestieri who has been out since August with a serious knee injury.

That has undoubtedly had an impact on the Owls poor season so far as others have failed to satisfactorily fill the breach in his absence.

Luhukay has today made an admission that may get the Sheffield Wednesday fans, who have missed Forestieri so much, excited.

Luhukay certainly appears to feel that Forestieri could take to the pitch between now and the end of the season, which would be a welcome boost to a season that has so far fallen below expectations.

The Verdict

It would be great if Forestieri could get out on the pitch before the season is out, to give the Owls fans something to cheer and get their spirits up going into next season.

However, so long as Wednesday are safe - as they should be - by the time the closing stages of the season roll around, there is no point rushing him back and risking an aggravation of the injury.
