Many believe that goal of the season in the Championship is already sorted, after Mason Bennett's incredible strike against Wigan last week.

The Rams forward combined talent with a natural instinct to acrobatically score a crucial goal for Frank Lampard's side.

With the former Chelsea player having a plethora of options to choose from in the final third, Bennett would've hoped it was the moment to really kickstart his season.

He has had a decent campaign but injuries and the form of others have prevented him playing regularly.

Unfortunately, it's happened again as the 22-year-old lasted just 34 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday days after his wondergoal before injury struck.

The diagnosis isn't as bad as Derby feared, with Lampard confirming he would be out for a few weeks but it must be a massive frustration for the player.

That goal was extremely important for the team as they came from behind to beat Wigan and end a run of three successive defeats.

Bennett will feel like it should've been the catalyst for both him and Derby to really push on in this play-off race.

Ever since he made his debut as Derby's youngest player, everyone has been aware of how good the academy graduate could be. But, he has struggled to established himself and those moments of real quality have been quite rare.

So, Bennett is sure to be gutted at how he hasn't been able to build on his individual brilliance from last week and you have to understand his frustration as his Derby career fails to really ignite.
