Former Leeds United defender Lucas Radebe has revealed that his goal against Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Cup is a standout memory from his time with the Whites.

The South African defender arrived at Elland Road in 1994 and spent more than a decade at the Yorkshire club before retiring from the game in 2005.

In all, Radebe made more than 200 appearances for the Whites and played his part in some memorable moments, including the European runs around the turn of the Millenium.

Speaking to the club website, he revealed that his goal against Spartak in the 1999/00 season is one of his standout memories.

Asked what his Leeds highlight was, he said: "That's an unfair question. For me representing the club, week in, week out was absolutely fantastic, being with such a team that was so versatile and had those character was amazing.

"One of the memories that stands out were the Champions League nights, especially the game against Spartak Moscow, where I scored goal which took us through to the next round. That's one moment that stands out."

The Whites took on Spartak in the 3rd round of the 1999/00 UEFA Cup, having beaten Partizan Belgrade and Lokomotiv Moscow in the previous rounds.

Leeds lost the away leg 2-1 but Radebe grabbed a late winner in the return leg at Elland Road to secure their place in the last-16, nodding in a corner at the back post inside the last 10 minutes.

Radebe's side would make it all the way to the semi-final of the competition that season but saw their progress stopped by Galatasaray.
