Reading have recently announced that Michael Olise has left the club for a record-fee to sign for Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Olise had been with the Berkshire-based side since 2016, and impressed in the their academy teams, before making the step up to the senior squad later down the line.

The midfielder wasted no time in making a positive impact with the Royals' first-team either, as he caught the eye with a number of impressive showings for the club last term.

The 19-year-old made 46 appearances for Reading last season, and chipped in with seven goals and 12 assists for Veljko Paunovic's side, as they narrowly missed out on a top-six finish, as they finished seventh in the Championship table.

Olise will now be playing his football for Crystal Palace though, who are under the watchful eye of newly-appointed boss Patrick Viera.

The Eagles finished 14th in the Premier League table last term, and will be hoping that Olise can hit the ground running, starting with a positive pre-season.

Reading forward Lucas Joao sent Olise a three-word message on Instagram after his move to Selhurst Park was completed on Thursday.

Joao and his Reading team-mates will be looking to get off to a winning start in this year's league campaign, when they take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium, on Saturday 7th August.

The Verdict:

I can see him going right to the top.

Olise was a joy to watch in the Championship last season, and it's not a surprise to see him making the move to the Premier League this summer.

The midfielder could unlock opposition defences with ease last term, and he's certain to leave a sizeable void in the Reading midfield moving forwards.

It's vital that the likes of John Swift stay injury-free from now on, as Reading will be heavily reliant on him to provide the creative spark that will be missing after Olise's departure.
