Nottingham Forest haven't had the most stable of times recently, lurching from manager to manager and never too far away from controversy.

Current owner Evangelos Marinakis has been under scrutinty, being forced to deny rumours of drug trafficking and match fixing. Marinakis bought out the previous owner, Fawaz Al Hasawi in May 2017 and set about promising to bring stability to the club.

He appointed Nicolas Randall QC as club chairman, a recognized independent sports lawyer and member of the Premier League Disputes Panel, on which he sits regularly as an arbitrator.

The appointment gave the ownership structure credibility and something fans could believe in. In light of the recent allegations, Randall has today written an open letter to fans, openly supporting the owner in light of the recent allegations against him.

In a move of utter transparency, Randall has addressed the fans concerns and given his own perspective, underlining the fact he would not have accepted the role as chairman if he had any misgivings about the ownership.

It is a move designed to reassure fans and to help deliver some of the stability that Marinakis promised when he first took over. In the main, it has been well-received by long-suffering Forest fans. They've responded on Twitter, some warmly but one or two looking to have a little fun at the owner's expense.
