Many Leeds United supporters have been suggesting that Pontus Jansson’s affections remain with the Whites, following the defender’s comments reflecting on some of the best moments of his career.

Jansson left Elland Road last summer to make the move to Championship rivals Brentford, and the defender has emerged as an integral member of the Bees’ defence since he arrived at Griffin Park, helping the London club become one of the toughest sides to break down in the league and establishing them as promotion contenders.

The defender will always be fondly remembered at Leeds due to a string of impressive displays during his time at Elland Road, with Jansson having been an integral part of the Whites’ defence for three successive campaigns, after making the move from Torino in the summer of 2016.

The 29-year-old will be frustrated that he was unable to help Leeds earn promotion to the Premier League last season, with the defender having been a standout performer under Marcelo Bielsa during his 39 Championship appearances, but the Whites were eventually beaten to automatic promotion by Sheffield United and then unsuccessful in the play-offs.

That saw Jansson leave in the summer with an air of unfinished business, but the defender could well watch on as Leeds earn promotion this term, with Bielsa’s side once again putting themselves in a strong position to secure promotion to the Premier League this term.
