After being condemned to relegation on the final day of the 2017/18 season, Barnsley found themselves having to rebuild for yet another League One promotion push.
Aside from Anthony Yiadom and Tom Bradshaw, Daniel Stendel was able to hang onto the Tykes’ key men ahead of the new campaign.
In terms of incomings, there were no big money signings.
Instead, the new German manager opted to recruit shrewdly, largely showing faith in the squad already at his disposal.
One new arrival, however, certainly caught the eye more than others.
This is FLW Rewind where we take a look back at a big decision made by a club, analyse the initial reaction and document what happened next.
The signing in question is that of Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow, who arrived at the club initially on loan but will move permanently in January.

With Fulham just being promoted to the Premier League and with Woodrow already collecting a decent amount of Championship experience with Bristol City, the Oakwell faithful were delighted with the arrival:
Love this what a great signing this is ????⚪️⚽️???? welcome to the Reds family

Top signing, looking good up top now, Thiam Moore, Victor n Cauley. When Isgrove n Hedges come back we’ll be looking really strong…????

Unfortunately, the move is far from filling the potential it had.
With 14 games played, Barnsley sit in fifth place in the League One table and have played some impressive football under Daniel Stendel.
The one downside is that Woodrow is yet to play a minute of it.
It turns out the 24-year-old carried a muscle injury with him to Yorkshire from his time with Fulham and it continues to hamper him even now.
Kieffer Moore continues to lead the line impressively and chances of Woodrow having a big impact on this season are getting smaller by the game.
