Sheffield Wednesday have released a statement in regard to the departure of manager Steve Bruce, prompting some fans to call for the club to take him to court.

The Owls have stated they are seeking legal advice over the manner in which Newcastle were able to appoint Bruce, as well as his two assistants Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence.

The club is owed a compensation fee, believed to be worth £4m, but so far the two clubs have yet to come to a financial agreement.

The hostile relationship that has developed between the different parties suggests it will be difficult to come to an amicable conclusion and therefore a settlement may have to be reached in court.

The prospect of going to court has excited Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday fans alike, with some Owls fans frustrated at Bruce jumping ship after just a few months in the role.
