Left-back Andrew Hughes has signed a new contract with Preston North End, the Championship club have announced.
Hughes joined Preston from Peterborough United back in the summer of 2018, signing for an undisclosed fee.
Since then, the 29-year-old has gone on to make 122 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring six goals – including the matchwinner in Monday’s 2-1 victory away at Stoke City.
That result has lifted Preston to 14th in the Championship table, nine points adrift of the play-off places.
The defender’s contract at Deepdale had been set to expire at the end of the current season, although that is no longer the case.
Which club did Preston sign these 20 strikers from?
Preston have now confirmed that Hughes has put pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half-year deal with the club, securing his future with the Lancashire side until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Taking to Twitter to react to news of that new deals for Hughes, plenty of Preston fans were keen to give their thoughts on the club’s latest piece of business.
Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.
Well deserved. Set himself some high standards particularly recently. Key part of the back line. 👏
