‘Love it’, ‘Nice to see’ – Many Leeds United fans left delighted by midfielder’s EFL development

Oldham Athletic got the better of Bradford City last night in the Papa John’s Trophy, beating the West Yorkshire side 3-1.
Leeds United loanee, Alfie McCalmont, struck twice late in the game to take the tie away from Bradford, who were holding Oldham at 1-1 heading beyond 80 minutes.
McCalmont broke beyond the striker on 84 minutes, though, before producing a finish off the outside of his boot for 1-2. Then, deep into injury time, he picked up a good position in the penalty area and finished well after a neat lay-off from Davis Kiellor-Dunn.

Harry Kewell has given McCalmont plenty of opportunity this season with Oldham, but the last three League Two fixtures he’s found himself as an unused substitute.
However, 90 minutes in the FA Cup, combined with a brace in the Papa John’s Trophy has surely put McCalmont into Kewell’s thinking ahead of a return to League Two action at the weekend.
Those of a Leeds persuasion clearly have an eye on how the Northern Irish midfielder is getting on with Oldham and many took to Twitter last night to discuss his goalscoring exploits.
We dive into their reaction here…
