Leeds United firmly cemented their place in the play-offs last night and opened up an eight point gap over seventh placed Derby, as well as leapfrogging Huddersfield and Reading into third place.

A solitary Chris Wood goal was enough to seal all three points.

Wood rose highest from a corner on the stroke of half time and powered a header past Scott Carson from six yards.

Leeds were the dominant side for the majority of the game and limited Derby to very little in an attacking sense.

The win was crucial for Leeds and it was almost a must win if they are to go all the way this season, which now looks to be a strong possibility.

Garry Monk has masterminded a remarkable season so far for Leeds and there is now genuine belief around Elland Road that this could be the season that they return back to the top flight.
